A poem for Darren's Birthday

Father's Day

Happy Birthday Darren,

You're 41 today.

An Hawaiian holiday's what we've got for you

An exotic place to stay.

We've got sunglasses

for your eyes,

Some flip, flops

for your feet,

A hat for your

"ball of lead"

And masses

for you to eat.

Unfortunately children

 aren't invited,

So there's no where

to lay "the girl's head

That means you'll stay home

 and be "Daddy"

Linda and I are going instead.

Jonno was leaving Forward Press

so I composed a poem for him

Good Luck Jonno

and all the best

As you leave Forward Press

and prepare for your test.

You're going to Stagecoach

 to drive a red bus.

If you don't like the colour

you must make a fuss.

"Start as you mean to go on"

that's my motto these days.

If the wages aren't enough

ask for a raise.

Keep up your standards

and don't let them drop,

Smile at the passengers

when they're dropped at their stop.

When you're clear what you're doing

and how far to go,

You can play your music on the bus,

Perhaps even stage a "show"

So keep your hair long

and look like a hippy,

If you play the right music

you could get a nice "clippie".
