Sadly I have to announce that Harry has had to be put to sleep on the 4th January 2008

Harry was eleven years, eight and a half months old which was a good age for a German Shepherd. It seems that ten years old is the average life expectancy.He was a very lovable, comical, ecentric dog who loved having visitors. A friend of mine called Jo who has since passed away used to call him Healing Harry Hobbs such was the caring vibration that came from him.

He was diagnosed last year with an illness called Perianal Fistula which we unable to treat apart from cleaning and spraying.

He has left a huge gap in our lives but he certainly wont be forgotten.Harry had quite a fan club and one of his friends Ann White has written a poem in rememberance.

The time has come to say goodbye

To our faithful loving friend

He made us laugh he loved us all

Right to the very end

The days won't be the same without him

We will miss him for quite some time

He will leave a gap in all our lives

But we will remember him in his prime

At last he will be free to roam

In that vast field of sun and light

No restrictions...no aching bones

Just endless fun as his soul takes flight

 So farewell Harry...my friend my mate

As the tears fall from our eyes

You touched our hearts in so many ways

Its with love we say our goodbyes

I hope those up stairs look after you as well as your mum and dad did. You were one of a kind and will be missed so dearly. Sorry I never said goodbye it was a pleasure to know you and a wonderful loyal friend please look after your mum and dad R I P lot s of love susan richard laura pad x

Russ and I just wanted to say that we are thinking of you after the loss of Harry. You must miss him so much after all the years you spent together. There are no words that can help but you will have wonderful memories to treasure. Harry is safe now, in wherever good dogs go, which must be a lovely place as they give us so much love, companionship and loyalty while they are with us. It is the hardest decision to make and such an unselfish one, but to reward all those years by giving the last gift of slipping peacefully away, rather than enduring any more suffering, is the only choice. I have no doubt that no one could have made Harry’s last weeks more comfortable and he definitely knew he was surrounded by love.

I am very sorry to read about Harry, your German Shepard. It is a terribly painful choice to have an animal put to sleep no matter what the circumstances.If you want to send me a picture of Harry, and maybe a little story about him, I would be happy to post a loving memorial to him on ClydeSight, as I have done with other special animals and even people.
